Basketball Tournament Adventures

Doing nothing but building businesses on the Internet is not my idea of living a balanced life (in my humble opinion).

After spending weeks shedding weight off my obese body, I’ve decided to take my fitness training to the next level by rekindling an old passion - playing basketball!

Now I must admit, playing sports really isn’t my forte but at the insistence of my friends in church, they convinced me to play basketball at a tournament organized by the church.

My first thought was, “This is SUICIDE! We are going to get our butt kicked for sure…” But my friend persuaded me that we were all just going there to ‘play for fun’.

Little did I know that we would be getting much more than we bargained for (besides ‘fun’).

Here are some photos taken during the matches:

To be honest, our team weren’t expecting to win any prizes due to a lack of training. We thought that if we could win a SINGLE match, it would be good news!

We played a total of 4 matches in total and the results of the first three matches were quite unexpected!

We DIDN’T lose any matches for the first three rounds during the preliminaries. (Technically, the first two matches ended up as a draw… but still, we DIDN’T lose and it helped us get into the quarter finals!)

We managed to win the third match thanks to my team mate Jimmy (the one in the green shirt) who executed a key 3-pointer which gave us the victory we needed.

Entering the quarter finals (top 8) is wayyyyyyy beyond what we expected because only 2 teams (out of 4) qualified based on the score (3 points for a win and 1 point for a draw). Therefore, we were more than happy to get our butt kicked in the Quarter Finals by trained basketball players who are younger, faster, taller and more organized than our rag-tag ‘minutemen’ basketball team.

Here is a photo of our team:

The name of the team is called - The Ball Is Round or 球是圆的 (Can’t we come up with a better name???)

Overall, it was a really GREAT day because of the good exercise and experience… after all, what is the point of making so much money on the Internet or having all the time freedom in the world if you do not have the health to enjoy it with?

So with renewed strength and more determination than ever, I’m going to intensify my fitness training regime and get that six pack I’ve always dreamed of!
