Good Advertising - Excellent Marketing

Good advertising will do much more than getting people to buy your product. It is a form of marketing that will leave a lasting impression on your customers’ mind. Human beings tend to remember details better through associations and relating to their past experiences.

The same applies to movie trailers. Remember the recent movie called Bridge to Terabithia? A lot of my friends came out of the movie with the same comments. They thought that Terabithia was just like The Chronicles of Narnia.

Terabithia is about 2 kids living in a make believe world. The monsters in Terabithia do not exist other than within their imaginations. Unlike Narnia where the kids actually walk in a different world and interact with real creatures. I remember watching the trailer of Terabithia in the movies thinking that it IS like narnia with all the elves and flying insects and troll giants and all.

My friends were rather disappointed to see very little action in this ‘kiddie movie’. Lord of The Rings it is not. They were disappointed because they were ‘deceived’ by the trailer. They though they were going to get another Narnia but it turned out to be totally different.

The producers claim that the trailer was not meant to deceive people. How else would you attract movie goers to watch Terabithia if the trailer is not enticing enough?

Well, there is one thing that I give credit to the producers. The trailer marketed the movie so well, that it created enough buzz to sell enough movie tickets.

That is what good marketing can do for your business. You have to make yourself stand out so people will remember you. And that principle will apply to online businesses as well.
