I Almost Got Killed In A Car Accident

2 nights ago, I almost thought it would be my last.

This was a serious car accident - although it may not look like it from the picture above, I was saved for one reason (read the rest of the story to find out).

I came back from Melvin & Steven’s seminar, exhausted after a tiring day of doing sales and promotion for their event and I stopped my car at a traffic light.

The next thing I knew, I was hit in the driver’s seat by a drunk driver at high speed.

Here’s how it happened.

I was stationary at a traffic light waiting for the light to turn green when all of a sudden, a car started flying towards my direction. With almost no time to react, I knew in a split second that I was a sitting duck as my car was stationary. I didn’t even have time to scream nor did I have the time to brace myself for the impact.

The shock was mentally paralyzing. I couldn’t even tell if I was brutally injured or not.

It was a miracle that I was alive and I even emerged with little injuries.

So what saved my life?

This is a photo that I took at the workshop the next day. Apparently the greatest impact was at the section in the red circle. This was the hardest location that the driver had hit and I thank God that it was there and not 2 inches to the left. Any closer, and I would be dead or seriously hospitalized as a result of the impact at that speed!

It was a miracle that everyone was okay, including my wife and the drunk driver.

Guess what… I wasn’t ready to go yet. I guess God still has plans for me or God isn’t done with me yet.

Should the worst happen, I would’ve left this earth with much regret - haven’t made my first million for starters.

It was still a very long night.

I had to drive my ‘totaled’ car back home and to the workshop the next day to settle all the damages.

The night of the accident was a night that I barely slept - still traumatized by the accident, and contemplating my life as I was this close to the brink of death.

As I closed my eyes, I can still see that car coming…

Fortunately, it’s been two days since that unfortunate event and I’m getting back on track… thankful to be alive :)

P.S. On hindsight, as I analyzed the whole situation, I came to realize that I was there for a weird reason… If I weren’t there, the drunk driver could’ve ran up the curb at that speed and he would be killed if the car overturned. My car sorta ’saved his life’ by acting as a cushion.

Please leave your comments and share with us your thoughts - what’s your worst accident or what you would’ve done if today is your last day on earth.

Great to know you’re still in one piece and yes it certainly is a miracle. A few in one, in fact. Besides the fact you and Yuenn were safe in one piece from the accident, you didn’t kill the drunk ‘lala chai’ - a lot of people in your shoes would’ve done so, myself included. Got to keep peak alert when I’m on the road… because someone else may be careless and drunk!

Accident always happen in split second and you will have no time to think about how to avoid it. I do have similar experience like this with my wife near Sunway Pyramid many years ago. My wife and I haven’t got any chances to re-act.

But thank God you are save and we should graceful we are still protected by HIM. I will pray for all of you for journey mercy on the road besides just my wife and I.

Now that you know God is not done with you yet. He’s got a lot more for you to do.

Not only him but your readers and your partners - they need you too! We are not done with you yet! Haha.

Glad to know you came out of it in one piece, bro.

God must be really looking out for you that night - really, HE did. I’m sure of it. I guess it’s at during these times that we truly believe that miracles do happen.

You car’s got a very strong A-pillar (the part circled in red) - and I thought that Japanese cars are inferior compared to Continentals.

I guess most of us has got our fair share of automobile accidents. I had some many close shaves when I was working as a Motoring Writer. I remembered one event when I nearly slammed into the divider while I was testing out the VW Golf GTi - which was a really super fast hot hatch.

I was doing 210km/h on one of the “most secluded” highways in Malaysia (I won’t mention which highway it is for the “safety” of all you people reading this… lol) - when the the car in front suddenly braked and I was forced to swerve to the next lane … not knowing there was construction going on, on the side of the road. Luckily there were no cars and if it weren’t for the ABS and Electronic Stabilization Programme that the car was equipped of, it would have become a crumpled beer car with me in it.

Man, you really gotta thank your lucky stars.

Will drop by your place to catch-up with you soon ok - maybe talk about getting your new set of wheels :-)

We all of us know that life is uncertain, so it is better to take precaution while driving because god is giving life to all of us once only, thanks a lot.

Now that you are going any time soon, imagine all the crap people have to put up with you for the rest of their lives….

great post Khai. Just that the impact didn’t seem to occur at 80 kmph as seen b damage photos.

Either way, you live for a few more posts.
