My New Computer – The Power Of I7
After 4 years of using slow laptops and old computers, I’ve finally invested in a new PC.
The processor is an Intel i7 920.
Theoretically speaking, it is supposed to be twice as fast as a quad-core processor (8x the speed).
I had to test it out for myself (without over clocking) so when I switched it on, Windows loaded up in just 6 seconds (compared to all my previous computers which took up to 6 MINUTES just to get to get into the login screen…)
My new PC came bundled with:
- Gigabyte EX58-4D3R with
- 3GB Kingston i333 DDR3 3X16b (based on the motherboard specs, it is supposed to channel the memory processing speed more than 3 times it’s combined base speed)
- C.Master Elite 335 Black Casing (transparent side)
- XFX 4870 512MC DDR5 (gotta love those graphics)
- A copy of XP HOME (I’m NOT using Vista…)
- Silverstone 560 Watt (special power supply to shoulder the heavy power workload)
- And a 500GB SATA hard disk (Originally I wanted to go for 1 Terabyte, but on 2nd thought, who needs so much hard disk space?)
Now I can play Warcraft 3 and Dawn of War 2 smoothly…
No more waiting ages for the game to load up

It’s at Low Yat PC Zone (2nd Floor). Go and look for this guy called - ‘REX’.
Say you were referred by Mr. Ng who bought the i7 for RM4,000

That’s some impressive stats Khai, I am a computer man myself. I been building them since back in 1999. I feel you on no vista, I’m still sticking with XP myself.
Windows loaded in 6 seconds…lol I remember when I first started building them, we were on like 16mb or ram (simm) I could start my computer, go make breakfast and come back in time for the login screen
