Recent Updates (2/4/2008)
I feel that it is good to post some updates on my life once in a while. And it’s good to update at the beginning of every month.
So here goes:
(1) I’m Declaring War On Obesity
As a very few of you may have noticed, I have lost some weight since February. But I’m not going to post any pictures here and neither am I going to reveal to anyone what I’ve been up to…… yet.
Just so that you know, I’m declaring war on obesity and this is not a flash in the pan decision.
(2) I’m making close to a $1,000 (RM3,200) a month on autopilot in addition to my writing income
I’m making $1,000 a month on ONE of my niche sites. I don’t even maintain the site, it is completely on autopilot. The only work that I need to do is to check my email for affiliate commission notifications and to cash out money from my Paypal account.
Although this isn’t a huge figure compared to what other Internet marketers are making, nevertheless, it is a milestone to me because I’ve always believed that autopilot or passive income is more precious compared to active income. After all, if you have passive income, you free yourself from the business so that you can focus on another niche site/business to get even more passive income.
As a copywriter, I usually trade my time for money (and my writing rates are not cheap, mind you) and although it requires a lot of time and effort, in reality you can only go so far if you keep on trading time for money or if you are shackled to your 9-5 job.
I’ve always enjoyed the freedom and the rewards of being an entrepreneur and the way things are going, I don’t foresee myself getting a job for the rest of my life
(3) I’ve joined The Resell Rights Mastery Blog as guest author and resident expert
Resell Rights Mastery by Edmund Loh is a membership site that offers high quality resell rights and private label rights products. There is also a blog that talks about proven tips, tactics and strategies on resell rights marketing. I’ve recently joined as a guest author and resident expert at the blog.
I’m not doing this because of the money but because I get to widen my circle of influence by blogging to a larger audience. I always advice new bloggers not to hoard all their best content for themselves. If you blog on larger platforms, people will know who you are and in turn, it will build up your primary blog as well. After all, what is the point of having the best painting in the world, if you hide it in your basement and no one is around to admire it?
Meanwhile, check out the blog here.
(4) Successful transition from Internet marketing to niche marketing
I rarely release any Internet marketing products. Not because I can’t, but because I don’t want to…… yet.
There is so much money to be made in niche marketing and most of the time, you get to do the work once and the site will payoff almost forever. Most of my sites only contain one page or two articles. Others are outsourced but the most important thing is to build traffic and reap the rewards later.
This is truly one business model that I really enjoy because of the possibility of residual income and exponential growth rate and it is very important as you don’t want to be swallowed up by inflation.
I have more than 10 niche sites now and once the SEO kicks in, I’ll be able to make 10 times my current income.
But does that mean that I will quit writing? By all means… NO. Writing income is still lucrative and it’s good to stay sharp by writing for others. God willing, I will create my own Internet marketing product when the time is right.
(5) I’ve also made some changes to my ‘about’ page and ‘Hire Khai’ Page
I felt that it was time to update my About Khai page and my Hire Khai page.
I’ve always advised bloggers and Internet marketing newbies to put up powerful ‘about me’ pages on their blogs. If you read my pages, it may seem that the stuff I write about myself are more bombastic than a Meatloaf concert, but please bear in mind… online, you are just a drop in a huge ocean. Every 2 seconds, a new blog is born and when someone stumbles upon a new blog, people usually drift to your ‘about me’ page and if your profile does not leave a lasting impression, chances are, they will never come back.
Besides, you must never feel embarrassed about letting others know about your strengths, it’s just good business (because the real world only respects strength and you must come across as one who has it in ample supply). Of course, you mustn’t write about yourself and appear as an arrogant fool or an empty vessel that is full of noise, but to keep in mind that there is a fine line between marketing your skills and outright bragging.
