Survey: What Business Would You Do If You Lost Your Job?

I’m conducting a survey and I need your input:
We all know that the world might be heading towards a recession. Some reports say that this coming recession might be one of the worst in the last 30 years!
The sub-prime loan crisis, escalating oil prices and tightening on credit in the United States are some of the biggest contributing factors towards a recession (they say that when America sneezes, the world catches a cold…)
Naturally, I started to worry about how this might affect my Internet marketing business… but after asking around and taking a good look at the situation, I believe that this recession is going to create even MORE opportunities for people involved in Internet marketing!
So if you are in Internet marketing or network marketing, you should REJOICE because more and more people will be looking for new business opportunities!
Please Post Your Comments Here
What would you do if:
- You lost your job tomorrow?
- You have 30 days before the bank closes down on your house and you need money FAST
- You need to make ends meet immediately and get something going quickly
I’ll start the ball rolling. Firstly, I would NEVER get another job. As an entrepreneur, you have everything within yourself to generate cash on your own without relying on your boss. I would look for my contacts, work out a project that involves writing/product creation, create the product under 24 hours, get them to sell it to their list and make profits from the joint venture. I would also start creating blogs aggressively after finding the right affiliate program, and I would submit a dozen new articles to article directories to drive fast traffic and make sales as quickly as possible (preferably under 48 hours).
So what would YOU do? (Add Your Comment Below Now)

Blogging for income is my first option. However it is very difficult to drive enough traffic for suitable income.

Being an internet marketer like you sounds good!
You want to invest in a little island in the Pacific?
Best Regards,
JB

Dear Khai,
What a question! Challenging yet Refreshing.
I wanted to quit my job since last year July. I was pondering a lot asking myself if this is the right move to make, or it’s just acting on top of my emotions of feeling fed up with the office world.
To better equip myself, I attended Blog Training & SEO Training. I finally quit my job before CNY this year. Took me about 7 months to prepare myself mentally & emotionally.
My backup plan is if I can’t make the same amount of my previous job’s salary in 3 month’s time, I’ll get a job (which is not a hard thing to do, considered I am still young and was headhunted in my previous jobs)
It’s been 2.5 month’s now and I’ve yet to achieve my target. I think this is a good challenge to my inner strength and fortitude to see if I have what it takes to be a real internet entrepreneur. I have projects coming in, but not as fast as I anticipated they will come.
I’m doing blogging, web copywriting and writing ebooks for people. Luckily I found a partner friend who does very good web designs and Wordpress themes designs. So we join forces and take in web design projects as well.
“…create the product under 24 hours..” Khai, how did you do it? I hope to make you my role model and be able to create a product that fast. At the moment, I’m writing an ebook on finance for someone and a lot of research is needed in this project. I need about 1 week to complete this project. Compare your 1 day with my 1 week! *feeling embarrass*
My friends are giving me their contacts in helping me in my new venture. I do business networking in seeking out new clients. I do not give myself excuse of why things are not turning out as fast as I hope. I take it as I am not working smart enough, fast enough and hard enough.
It is a challenge to be on our own, and it is a bigger challenge to challenge ourselves to overcome our inner critic and self-doubts. To develop our discipline, communication and networking skills, which are the success factors I think all successful internet marketers possess.
Khai, I agree with you. In KL, without a job, we need to make ends meet immediately and get something going quickly. My miscalculation was I did not prepare well my financial savings. Another lesson to be learned.
I hope with my long comment above I am able to share advice from my experience with people who are suddenly left without a job, and people who are on the fence of quitting theirs.

Hi Sook Chin,
You must never give up no matter what results you are going through because success and failure is merely a process and is necessary for growth and moving forward. Just because you haven’t achieved your goal doesn’t mean you haven’t learned anything.
However, the best part about quitting your job and becoming an entrepreneur is actually what you can get out of it rather than the monetary returns. If you think about it, you will get money no matter what you do (work 9-5, sell your own products or even rob a bank)… but once you’ve developed the skills of an entrepreneur, your mind becomes your greatest weapon and you will be able create value out of thin air - and when you provide value for others, the money will come automatically.
I know many people who keep telling me that they want to seek opportunities and fire their boss for good. Some even told me that they want to start an Internet business but they still haven’t got a site registered until this day.
When you get up and take THAT FIRST STEP, you are already ahead of the majority (97%) of people who can’t even get started.
Regarding your business now, I would say one thing - I salute you because you have the GUTS to step out and do something rather than remain in your comfort zone.
And please don’t compare with others. Take things into perspective - Remember, the fact that you take one week to create a product is already commendable. Most people take 3-6 months to write their first E-book. If you are working out in a gym, it would be pointless to compare yourself with an athlete whose profession is to train in that field. I’ve been writing e-books and web copy for the last 15 months. After creating more than 100 products, I realize that you can become good at virtually anything you set your mind to. Just make sure you watch your cash flow.

Hi khai, I agree with you! I’ll do a firesell to promote my product, ask you and my friends to promote in they list. and give them 75% commissions.
or I’ll do a spam comment using xrumer, promote viagra affiliate using parasite host and then using some software to trackback my parasite host!
and I’ll do youtube spam comments. using costume made comment. LOL.
I think that’s the best way to make money.

hmm, good and tough question. For me the easiest way out is to set up a hawker/mamak food stall (on credit) in a high traffic office area to get some cash going - this would only work in Malaysia as it is a food paradise place. But seriously, probably hold a firesale for those PLR products or get some sort of JV. But I really agree with Khai that it is not only about monetary terms but developing your entrepreneur skills as well.
