The Loooooooooooong Vacation

I must admit that February of 2009 was hands down the laziest month of my life! I spent the entire month lazing around playing board games, surfing the net, watching Lost, Prison Break, Heroes and Desperate Housewives (all the latest episodes) and traveling with friends around the country. Thank God for my Internet marketing business…you just gotta love that leverage…

Not only that, I was glad I reached my goal in the quest to become the laziest man on earth.

Here are some MAJOR update on my life:

(1) Meet Nigel Huang

1.JPG

A bit of history on this guy…

How often do you remain good friends with someone whom you haven’t seen or spoken with in 10 years?

Such is the curious case with my friend Nigel Huang. I met him 10 years ago in high school (in Australia) and my dad arranged for me to stay at Nigel’s dad’s house for 2 weeks during the holidays because I had no place to go.

It was the most fun I ever had in my life cos we were young and he taught me how to play the guitar. He’s my first guitar teacher (yes… I used to be in a rock band) and all we could talk about for 2 weeks were music, guitar and forming a band.

After I left his home, I never saw him again or spoke to him again for 10 years!

I thought I lost contact with him and I didn’t know how to find him as I didn’t have his email address…

You really gotta thank God for Facebook. After hunting down my old friend for 10 years, I finally found him online and he suddenly decided to come all the way over to Malaysia for a visit.

So it was ‘payback’ for me as he stayed over at my place for 2 weeks!

(2) The Melaka Road Trip

After loitering around Internet cafes and eating lots and lots of food, we decided to organize a one night road trip to Melaka for MORE food.

5 of us went on this road trip… Me, my wife Yuenn, Nigel, Ladan Lashkari and Alfred Ko.

But the trip was off to a bumpy start. Alfred’s car broke down half way to Melaka.

Alfred reading his comic book as they were fixing his car…

Yuenn: Poor Alfred…

Khai: There, there, my dear… I’m sure the mechanics will do a great job!

5.JPG

4 hours later… groan…………

Eventually the mechanics told us that the car was SUBAR (Screwed up beyond all repair), so guess what we did…

We took a taxi back to my house, decided that the trip was still worthwhile in spite of wasting 7 hours getting nowhere on the road and we got into my car and drove back to Melaka AGAIN!

It was a good thing…

Otherwise we would’ve missed the good food!

This delicacy is known as ‘Lok-Lok’ - similar to Satay, you dip it into boiled sauces.

The first of what Nigel calls a ‘boyband’ pose.

As we were driving around, we saw this strange sign telling us to ‘turn left’. (What an elaborate way to describe the flow of traffic…)

Lame boyband pose No.2…

Wow, look at the size of my ‘cannon’…

11.JPG

Look, we’ve just added a new member for our boy band… we recruited him at this historic museum!

12.JPG

Ahhh, it’s good to feel the wind in your face as we hunt for buried treasure… right, Alfred?

(3) Karaoke Session

After we returned from Melaka the next day, we went for a karaoke session with our friend, Loo Ann.

By the way, Loo Ann happens to be my wife’s business partner and also a gorgeous model…

    Hey Khai, great post. :)

Yes, you sure had tons of fun in February. Maybe secretly wishing it was 31 days instead of 28. ;)

I wouldn’t call it being “lazy” though, but “living life to the max”. Because us Internet marketers are not robots, you know? Fun time with no business strings attached is essential sometimes.

    Have fun!

Zune and iPod: Most people compare the Zune to the Touch, but after seeing how slim and surprisingly small and light it is, I consider it to be a rather unique hybrid that combines qualities of both the Touch and the Nano. It’s very colorful and lovely OLED screen is slightly smaller than the touch screen, but the player itself feels quite a bit smaller and lighter. It weighs about 2/3 as much, and is noticeably smaller in width and height, while being just a hair thicker.
